Design Engineer JOEM

Designing and adapting products designed in Germany for Japanese OEMs.

About the organization

  • Section in charge of a specific automotive OEM (and possibly other OEMs)

Specific Duties

  • Selected to work in the design department and perform design and development work with appropriate work style to meet quality, cost and timing of product development
  • Practical… Japan R&D department (belongs to a team of design personnel, CAD operators, etc.)
  • In-house… Automotive Perform design work related to the designed product in charge as an OEM
  • External work: Customers, suppliers, engineering service companies, and other business partners (product certification, program manager, production plant, production engineering, product division in charge, etc.)

Scope of work

  • Design products considering robustness, cost, productivity, and ease of assembly during the order process, after receiving an order, and in the design of mass-produced products
  • Contact customers directly to align design concepts and details

  • Consider manufacturing feasibility
  • Internal: Production Engineering, Quality Assurance

Post-employment flow

  • After joining the company, you will receive training at the head office in Germany for about 1~2 months.
  • After the training, you will be in charge of the Japanese design of Keykelt products to be provided to Japanese OEMs, and will coordinate the design together with designers in Germany and the Czech Republic.
  • Although this position is for Japan, it is a matrix organization, so functionally it belongs to the design of the German headquarters.

Required

  • Education: Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering
  • Work experience: 7+ years of design experience. Automotive door lock related experience is especially preferred.
  • CAD (Catia V5) experience
  • English proficiency to read and write emails
  • Native level Japanese proficiency
